Washington, DC (June 14, 2012) – Today, U. S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-Palm Harbor), issued the following statement in commemoration of the U.S. Army's 237th birthday and Flag Day:

"For more than two centuries, millions of men and women have honorably served this nation through the U.S. Army. Without these men and women, and without the Army, America would not exist as we know it today. These soldiers make it possible for all American citizens to enjoy the freedoms and liberties our forefathers envisioned when they founded this great country.

"It is no coincidence that today we also celebrate Flag Day. As a nation we would not be able to commemorate Old Glory had our brave soldiers not been willing to sacrifice their lives defending our nation. Let us always salute the Stars and Stripes and honor our U.S. Army soldiers."
