Bilirakis Misses House Speaker Vote Due to Attending Mother-in-Law’s Funeral
Congressman Gus Bilirakis’s mother-in-law, Theodora Lialios, recently passed away after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Her funeral was held earlier today, and Congressman Bilirakis attended the services with his wife, Eva, their four sons and other close family members.
As evident by this recent editorial, Congressman Bilirakis has been working to garner support for his friend and colleague, Jim Jordan, in his bid to become House Speaker. Congressman Bilirakis alerted House Leadership and Speaker-Designate Jim Jordan that he would miss today’s noon vote due to the family funeral and advised that he will be traveling to DC later today. Congressman Bilirakis will continue to be fully supportive of Speaker-Designate Jordan’s candidacy when he arrives in DC this evening and looks forward to voting for him in subsequent votes.
