Federal and Local Officials Visit Inverness Manufacturer to Highlight Industry Needs as Part of National Manufacturing Month

October 3, 2024

-U.S. Congressman Gus Bilirakis and Mayor Bob Plaisted to Tour Rural King’s Inverness Tractor Assembly Facility-

Inverness, FL:  October is National Manufacturing month, an opportunity to showcase innovations within the industry, highlight the tremendous financial impact that manufacturing has on national, regional and local economies, and to inspire a new generation of leaders in the manufacturing sector. It is also a valuable opportunity for government officials to engage with industry leaders to develop a better understanding of the challenges they face and brainstorm ways to work together toward a remedy.  It is in this spirit of collaboration that U.S. Congressman Gus Bilirakis and City of Inverness Mayor, Bob Plaisted, are scheduled to tour Rural King’s Tractor Assembly Facility in Inverness on October 24, 2024.  The Rural King facility assembles farm tractors, equipment, and machinery destined for final delivery to end users.  According to the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS), these activities are classified under NAICS code 333111 for Farm Equipment Manufacturing. Rural King has been assembling tractors and other equipment at the Inverness location for approximately two years. The Inverness location only focuses on the assembly part of the supply chain and does not sell directly to the public.

Boosting domestic manufacturing is key to creating a strong economy, as it generates more economic activity than other sector of the economy,” said Congressman Bilirakis. For every dollar of domestic manufacturing value-added, another $3.60 of economic activity is generated elsewhere across the economy.  We must continue to increase quality training opportunities, including hands-on apprenticeship programs to ensure our youth gain the skills needed to meet the demand of this critical field.  It is also vital to develop a deeper understanding of local manufacturers’ needs so that we can remove regulatory barriers to expansion. I look forward to visiting Rural King to achieve this objective.”

In advance of the visit, City Mayor Bob Plaisted remarked,Made in the USA assembly operations like this one in Inverness, are instrumental in strengthening manufacturing supply chains here in the USA and they ensure seamless delivery of goods in the domestic market”  The City of Inverness is eager to continue to work with Rural King and other manufacturing operations to optimize economic opportunities.”
