This week, I met with several patients and more than 140 advocates, representing more than 10 organizations, during the annual Congenital Heart Legislative Conference. These leaders are working to improve and prolong the lives of those living with a congenital heart defect (CHD).
In our home state of Florida, water is a pretty big deal. We all know about the many benefits our bodies of waters provide to our communities. What you may not know, is that Congress recently took a stand to protect our waters.
As your elected official, my job is to help YOU. This year, my staff and I worked diligently to assist the residents of Florida’s 12th district in a variety of ways.
Helping people is why I came to Congress. It is the motivation behind everything I do. This year, I am honored to have been a part of many legislative initiatives that will truly help my constituents and families across the nation.
Yesterday, I had the honor of meeting with Connie Pilallis, the Grand President, and Elena Saviolakis, the Executive Director of the Daughters of Penelope in my Washington, DC office.
November was a wonderful month, reminding us to be grateful for the many privileges we have. It is truly an honor to serve Florida’s twelfth district. My many meetings with constituents, local businesses, Veterans, advocates, and families served as a reminder of how lucky I am. Here are some highlights from November:

Our state is one of America’s top destinations for tourists. I am so proud that we have been successful in creating an environment where tourism based business can thrive, because more tourism means more jobs.

October was filled with many exciting events, hearings, markups, votes, and visits with so many constituents, families, and advocates. As Vice Chair of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, I have seen firsthand the courage, dedication, and sacrifices of our Veterans. I am forever grateful for our nation’s true American heroes and their efforts to keep us safe. That is why I have been devoted to helping our Veterans transition to civilian life.
