Washington, DC (February 8, 2011) – Gus gathered with nearly two dozen small business owners and city leaders on Monday in Temple Terrace to discuss what will best improve the business climate in this tough economy.

"Small businesses across the country are hurting," Gus said. "This meeting was a chance for me to visit with local business leaders, who said that high taxes and over regulation have kept them from expanding and helping out our area's economy."

Temple Terrace Mayor (and small business owner) Joe Affronti and other city leaders, as well as 14 other local business owners, attended the meeting. Gus also toured the Temple Terrace downtown redevelopment project on Monday.

"Congress has to cut the red tape, simplify the tax code, and get serious about cutting federal spending in order to provide an environment that can help these people develop their businesses, which are the lifeblood of our economy," he said.

Gus is an original cosponsor of HR 4, legislation that would help end unnecessary red tape on businesses by eliminating a requirement to report payments of $600 or more to the IRS.
