Washington, DC (April 11, 2011) ? Last month, Gus visited the Soldier and Family Assistance Center (SFAC) at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Gus has long been a proponent of the SFAC, and has advocated for its expansion nationwide.

The SFAC assists wounded warriors and their families during their time of need and provides both federal and private resources to the soldiers and families.

Prior to Gus' visit, the Department of Defense (DOD) had been contemplating whether to maintain the SFAC in its current form. But based on Gus' support for the program, the DOD has ensured that the current model of the SFAC would remain the same during the merger between Walter Reed and the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda.

"This program is extremely helpful and necessary to wounded soldiers and their families, and I'm encouraged that the Department of Defense plans to keep it intact," Gus said.

Gus also called on the DOD to expand the SFAC program to all branches of the military and to additional military hospitals nationwide.
