While our Veterans deserve honor, support, and thanks each and every day, next Wednesday, we have the opportunity to pause and recognize our nation’s heroes in a variety of meaningful ways

Each and every Veteran and their family have sacrificed so much for our great nation. I am forever grateful for their service and I am dedicated to helping our Veterans get the services and care they have earned. As we celebrate Veterans Day, here’s a look back at some of my favorite moments with our nation’s heroes:

October 2015: I had the privilege of welcoming some of our nation’s heroes to D.C. It was great meeting with Veterans with the West Central Florida Honor Flight.

July 2015: We had a packed house for our Veterans Town Hall in New Port Richey.

September 2014: I was honored to join Pasco’s Alphonse Lara and Al LaEzza during their Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

January 2014: I was officially given the honor to serve as the Vice Chairman of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee of the 114th Congress.

July 2013: We held our 7th Annual Veterans’ Resource Fair to help provide services to our Veterans. It was also a great event that helped honor so many of our nation’s heroes.

September 2012: We held a very important meeting with NFL leaders, athletes, and members of the Veterans Caucus to discuss ways to help soldiers and athletes suffering from brain injuries.

May 2011: I visited with many local Veterans during the World War II Honor Flight as they toured our nation’s capital.

As Vice-Chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, I remain committed to working with my colleagues in the House to provide our Veterans with the resources and tools necessary to succeed.  Through our Committee, we have held hearings, discussed potential legislation, and hosted roundtables on ways to identify and resolve barriers impacting Veterans.

We have introduced legislation to improve the lives of our nation’s heroes by providing them with services and tools they need to further their education, transition into the workplace, and more. Learn more about the work I’m doing for our Veterans here and be sure to wish our Veterans a Happy Veterans Day!
