Bilirakis Addresses VA Delays
The House Veterans' Affairs Committee today reviewed the Department of Veterans' Affairs efforts to provide Veterans' health care in a timely manner. The excessive delays at the VA continue to fail our nation's Veterans. Members reviewed the issue and discussed how to address excessive wait times.
"I continue to hear from our Veterans every day about the delays in care and significant wait times they face at the VA," said Congressman Gus Bilirakis. "Just last week, during my 10th Annual Veterans' Fair, local Veterans expressed significant concerns. The VA continues to mislead the public and has not done enough to prevent data manipulation. These are our heroes. They deserve timely, quality care and support, especially from the VA. The delays in care are simply unacceptable and I will continue to fight for those who fought for our freedoms."
Congressman Bilirakis questioned the panel on issues local Veterans recently brought to his attention:
A recent GAO report highlighted many issues within the VA regarding wait time data. This hearing gave members the opportunity to further review the issue with witnesses from the Department of Veterans' Affairs and U.S. Government Accountability Office.
