Bilirakis Announces Funding for Pasco County Flood Victims

March 21, 2016

Representative Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) is delighted to announce that his efforts to help flood victims in Pasco County continue to yield positive results. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently approved an initial $50,000 investment to prepare the Federal Interest Determination (FID) for the Pasco County infrastructure project. This is the first step in obtaining implementation dollars from the Corps.

"This past summer, our community was hit by heavy flooding," said Congressman Bilirakis. "I witnessed firsthand the plight of homeowners who were victims of flooding and brought stakeholders together to help with the infrastructure needs that permeated Pasco County."

"I researched funding opportunities and discovered the Army Corps of Engineers had available resources for these projects," Bilirakis added. "In August, I brought the Corps to our area to meet with county staff. They determined our community needs were a top priority. It is my pleasure to bring these necessary funds to the community as the planning portion of the application for further Corps funding continues. I am optimistic as we move forward and I am grateful to the Army Corps of Engineers for their help to improve flooding conditions in Pasco."
