Bilirakis Applauds Next Steps for Ridge Road Extension
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis (FL-12) announced today the Army Corps of Engineers has approved a critical next step for the Ridge Road project. The Corps has determined a preliminary route from Ridge Road to U.S. Highway 41 for the extension, which would serve as an evacuation road for West Pasco.
“Continuing nearly two decades of work, I’m pleased to report further progress in the regulatory process for the Ridge Road extension project. Thanks to the hard work of state and local officials, and the people of Pasco County, I’m hopeful this critical public safety project will soon become a reality,” said Bilirakis.
Pasco County will next need to prepare additional construction and environmental assessment documents for the approved route before the Corps issues a final permit decision.
Earlier this year, Bilirakis sent a letter to the Trump Administration urging the prioritization of the Ridge Road extension as part of the President’s efforts to streamline infrastructure projects. He continues to work closely with federal, state, and local officials to help advance this public safety project.
