Bilirakis Applauds Progress on Ridge Road Extension Project

March 23, 2017

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis applauded progress on the Ridge Road extension project today after Governor Rick Scott joined in sending a letter to the Trump Administration. The letter urges the Administration to prioritize the completion of this important project in Pasco County.

"I'm thrilled we took this positive step forward today to turn the Ridge Road extension project into a reality, and I thank Governor Scott for his efforts to help get this done for the people of Pasco County," said Bilirakis. "After nearly 20 years of regulatory roadblocks, local residents deserve an effective evacuation route in case of a disaster. I'm hopeful the Trump Administration will help prioritize the completion of this critical public safety project."

In January, Bilirakis initially penned a letter to the Administration to request the Ridge Road project be designated a "high priority" under the President's Executive Order on infrastructure. Click here to read that letter.

After receiving Governor Scott's letter of support, the Administration has 30 days to consider the designation. A "high priority" designation would put the project in a fast-lane for regulatory procedures and Army Corps review processes.
