Bilirakis Co-Sponsors Health Freedom for All Act

Washington, DC: In response to President Biden's most recent egregious example of government overreach, Representative Gus Bilirakis has co-sponsored H.R. 5471, the Health Freedom for All Act. This critical legislation would prevent the Biden Administration from enacting its planned vaccine mandate on the American people. Specifically, the bill would clarify that under existing law, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) does not have the authority to implement rules requiring Americans to undergo COVID-19 vaccinations or testing. This legislation was necessitated by President Biden's recent announcement that the agency, traditionally responsible for overseeing basic workplace safety regulations, will now require businesses employing more than 100 workers to require weekly testing for those employees who remain unvaccinated. This decision is a complete reversal of previous assurances made by President Biden and his Administration that he would not impose such mandates on the American people and instead prioritize voluntary vaccination efforts.

"The Biden vaccine mandate is an authoritarian power grab that only serves to undermine public confidence in the vaccines that were developed through Operation Warp Speed under the direction of the Trump Administration. Decisions about one's healthcare should be a personal choice guided by advice from his or her physician. I've been contacted by countless constituents who are fearful that they will lose their jobs when these mandates are implemented. That is wrong," said Congressman Gus Bilirakis. "These mandates will also exacerbate the workplace shortages we are seeing throughout critical industries, including healthcare, child welfare, transportation, and education. Our legislation will protect one of the most basic freedoms from this irresponsible and unacceptable government intrusion."
