Bilirakis Comments on Obamacare's Impact on Jobs
"The Express Employment Professionals, the largest private staffing firm in the country, conducted a survey that found that, in order to elude being subjected to the Employer Mandate, 70% of businesses with 45-49 employees will avoid hiring to stay under the 50-employee mark. It also found that 60% believe Obamacare will lead to less job creation," said Bilirakis. "This comes after Secretary Sebelius, on Monday said 'there is absolutely no evidence, and every economist will tell you this, that there is any job-loss related to the Affordable Care Act.' The Obama Administration can deny Obamacare's negative impacts all they like, but the truth persists - this law causes higher premiums, reduced hours, and job loss.
This survey comes after the Congressional Budget Office recently issued a report on the economic outlook throughout the country through 2024. The report notes that the Affordable Care Act will reduce the incentives for individuals to work, and estimates that Obamacare will reduce the labor force by 2 million would-be employees. At a time when the labor force is at its lowest since 1978 during the Carter Administration, Congress and the President should be supporting economic policies that will incentivize people to work and businesses to grow – not the opposite.
