Bilirakis Continues Work to Address Zika Virus

March 2, 2016

The Energy and Commerce Committee Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations today held a hearing to continue work to address the Zika virus.

Members discussed public health response efforts with witnesses from the Food and Drug Administration, National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Health and Human Services, and other health care researchers and experts.

"As we continue to learn more about the Zika virus, I am dedicated to working with my colleagues to address this issue," said Representative Gus Bilirakis (R-FL). "With several individuals infected in the Tampa Bay area, Florida is on the front line of the Zika crisis. We don't have the luxury to sit back and be spectators. Today's hearing gave us the opportunity to work with public health officials and ensure we are being as proactive as possible to keep our nation safe."
