Bilirakis Continues Work to Examine VA OIG Report
Yesterday, the House Veterans' Affairs Committee held a follow up hearing to continue its examination of the inappropriate use of position and the misuse of the relocation program and incentives at the VA.
This hearing builds on the discussion during a hearing on October 21 in which Deputy Inspector General Linda Halladay provided disturbing testimony of malfeasance at the VA.
Members and five employees of U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs discussed the recent IG's report in detail to determine the scope of the problem, discuss how the VA plans to hold bad actors accountable, and help ensure Veterans and taxpayers are protected from similar instances of waste and abuse in the future.
"As I've said before, we need to get to the bottom of this and prevent this sort of inappropriate behavior from happening in the future," added Bilirakis. "The money that Congress appropriated for the VA was intended to benefit our nation's Veterans, not those in the bureaucracy. Our nation's heroes and our taxpayers deserve much better."
