Bilirakis Continues Work to Improve Veteran Care
Today, the House Veterans' Affairs Committee held a hearing to review the Choice program to help Veterans receive quality care in communities across the country.
The Choice program, which was enacted a year ago, was intended to ensure Veterans had better access to care through the use of community providers; however, its implementation has not fully met that intent.
In an effort to improve Veterans health care, the VA was required to deliver to Congress a plan to align all existing non-VA health care programs under the Choice Program.
Members and VA witnesses discussed ways to address challenges in the Choice program, improve the VA, and ensure Veterans are able to receive quality care in a safe, quick, and efficient manner.
"This program is a step in the right direction, but there is much more work to be done," said Congressman Bilirakis. "We must address any problems our Veterans face especially when it comes to health care. Our work to improve this important program continues, and I remain dedicated to helping our nation's heroes get the care they deserve. It is the least we can do for our Veterans."
