May 24, 2016

Today, the Energy and Commerce Committee's Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade held a hearing to discuss important legislation to reform the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Congressman Gus Bilirakis's H.R. 5098, the FTC REPORTS Act, was included in this legislative hearing. This bill will promote transparency and accountability at the FTC, and help protect elderly consumers against fraud.

Congressman Bilirakis discussed the need for this important bill with experts and stakeholders:

"With input from today's witnesses, we can ensure that our legislation will benefit all consumers in our nation, particularly our senior citizens," said Bilirakis. "I look forward to working together to bring about necessary reforms, and improve the FTC."
