Bilirakis Honored by the American Society of Travel Agents

March 15, 2016

In recognition for his work to promote travel and tourism, Congressman Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) yesterday was honored by the American Society of Travel Agents with the Congressional Travel Advocate Award. The Congressman's Travel Promotion, Enhancement, and Modernization Act was signed into law last year and has helped Florida maintain its reputation as one of America's top destinations for tourists.

This legislation reauthorized Brand USA, a public-private partnership that serves as the nation's first cooperative destination marketing organization, to help create more jobs, boost local businesses, and keep communities across the country growing.

"It is an honor to receive this recognition. I understand the importance our tourism sector plays in the recovery of our economy, which is why I am proud my bill, the Travel Promotion, Enhancement, and Modernization Act was signed into law late last year. This bill has led to job growth, especially in my home state, and has done so without the use of taxpayer dollars. I am grateful for the American Society of Travel Agents and will continue working to support a robust tourism industry."
