Bilirakis Named Florida’s Most Bipartisan Lawmaker, 27th in Entire Congress

May 7, 2022

Washington, DC- For the fourth year in a row, Congressman Gus Bilirakis has been ranked as one of the most bipartisan members of Congress, according to the Bipartisan Index rankings from the Lugar Center and Georgetown University's McCourt School, which were released earlier this week. With an overall ranking of 27th out of 435 Members of Congress, Bilirakis led the Florida Congressional Delegation with the highest score for bipartisanship. Bilirakis, who also recently earned a 100% score from Heritage Action for his unwavering conservative record in Congress, has a unique and well-deserved reputation as a savvy problem-solver who can find common ground across the aisle without compromising his principles.

"Fundamentally, I believe most Americans want their elected officials to work together to do what's right for our country. They expect their leaders to have courage of conviction, but have also grown weary of the grandstanding and petty bickering that too often characterizes contemporary politics. They want results," said Representative Bilirakis. "The key to delivering those results is to stand firm in one's beliefs while developing relationships with colleagues, treating everyone with civility, and finding areas of agreement about how to improve the lives of those we serve. While I vehemently disagree with many of the liberal policies that are pushing our country in the wrong direction and will continue to fight against them, I will not lose sight of the fact that there are many opportunities to make a meaningful impact if we are willing to work together. Some issues simply transcend politics. For example, I am particularly proud of the bipartisan work I have done to protect Veterans, seniors, and children this Congress. I remain committed to advancing these and other bipartisan measures including: improving access to mental health and substance abuse treatment and facilitating the development of better cures and treatments for patients battling rare and chronic diseases."
