Bilirakis Praises House Passage of Bill to Strengthen Career and Technical Education

June 22, 2017

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Bilirakis (FL-12) released the following statement today after the House unanimously passed the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (H.R. 2353). This legislation strengthens and reauthorizes the Perkins Act, which provides state and local resources for workforce education to help Americans gain the skills they need for today's job market.

"When I tour Tampa Bay businesses and manufacturers, I often hear about the need for more highly-skilled workers. Florida is home to many great community colleges, vocational schools, and career centers that can help prepare folks for good-paying, in-demand jobs. Today's legislation will help connect the dots for job-seekers, employers, and programs that can provide the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience necessary to compete in the workforce."
