Bilirakis Ranks Among the Top 12% for Bipartisanship
Washington, DC: Just weeks after being named the most effective legislator in Florida, Congressman Gus Bilirakis was listed as one of the most bipartisan members of Congress for the most recent legislative session, according to the Lugar Center Bipartisan Index rankings released earlier today. Bilirakis ranked 45th out of the 435 Members of the House of Representatives, placing him in the top 12% for bipartisanship. The Lugar Center, led by former U.S. Senator Richard Lugar, measures the degree to which Senators and Representatives work across party lines. Its bipartisan index has now covered 13 Congresses since 1993. Rankings are based on bill sponsorships and co-sponsorships.
“I consider myself a workhorse, not a show horse—always seeking to work in a bi-partisan manner to find areas of common ground on matters that will make a positive difference in the lives of the people I serve, regardless of political affiliation. I know my constituents expect me to get things done, which is why I stay focused and just work hard each and every day on their behalf. It is one of the most important lessons my father taught me, and it is how I will continue to approach my job --because it works,” said Congressman Gus Bilirakis.
