Bilirakis Receives Top Award for Constituent Communication During August Recess Listening Tour
Washington, DC: When Members of Congress returned to their district for the month of August and two weeks in September, Congressman Gus Bilirakis embarked upon a listening tour to gauge the interest and priorities of his constituents. In total, the Congressman held 31 events throughout Tampa Bay within that six-week period, and met with countless parents, teachers, students, Veterans, seniors, small business owners and other stakeholders.
“In each of these sessions, the message I consistently heard loud and clear is that our neighbors and businesses are hurting, said Bilirakis. “Raging inflation caused by reckless government spending has caused the price of gas and groceries to skyrocket. People simply can’t keep pace, and they need help, especially those who are on fixed incomes, like our seniors.”
This feedback coincides with national trends, as 71% of Americans said in a recent survey that their paychecks are not keeping pace with costs that continue to rise. During his Listening Tour, Bilirakis was able to assure his constituents that he and his Republicans colleagues in the House have a concrete plan for addressing these concerns as part of their Commitment to America, which encompasses building: an economy that is strong, a nation that is safe, a future that is free, and a government that is accountable. When he returned to Washington at the end of September, Bilirakis received top honors from his colleagues for constituent communication about Republicans’ specific plans for moving the country forward.
