Bilirakis Responds to President's Veto of the Restoring Americans' Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act

January 8, 2016

Representative Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) released the following statement following the President's veto of the Restoring Americans' Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act:

"With this unfortunate, but unsurprising veto, the President has sent Congress and the American people a disappointing message – protecting the rights of patients, families, the unborn, and American taxpayers is not a top priority for him. We in Congress worked to pass this legislation with bicameral support. This bill would help reduce government spending and reduce the burdens of the President's health care law on patients and families across the country. More importantly, this legislation would prevent our taxpayer dollars from funding organizations practicing unethical and morally abhorrent activities.

I will continue working to give the power of health care decisions back to the people, and give voice to the most fragile among us. It is a shame our President will not join me in these meaningful efforts."
