Bilirakis: SGR Patch Disappointing But Necessary

March 27, 2014

"I do not want to temporarily patch the SGR, but we have to do it. Seniors and physicians simply cannot survive the pending reimbursement cuts that would occur if we do not act," said Bilirakis. "Not acting to provide seniors and doctors certainty and peace of mind is unconscionable. I hope the Senate will come to the table so this problem can be permanently fixed. If we work together, it can get done."

Representative Bilirakis has supported repealing and replacing the SGR with patient and physician-centered solutions that will provide seniors with quality care and protect doctors from looming cuts year after year. Most recently, he joined the House of Representatives in passing H.R. 4015, the SGR Repeal and Medicare Provider Payment Modernization Act, which would fully pay for the repeal and replacement of the SGR formula.
