Bilirakis Urges DHS, DOJ, & FBI to Address Anti-Semitic Threats Against Jewish Community Centers
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Gus Bilirakis (FL-12) joined over 150 bipartisan colleagues in a letter urging the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to take swift action to address the over 60 anti-Semitic threats made against Jewish Community Centers (JCCs) nationwide. “Jewish Community Centers have always been, and must continue to be, a home for Jewish life, history, and culture. The recent bomb threats against JCCs are threats against our very core values of religious liberty and the freedom to safely celebrate our beliefs. I urge federal law enforcement agencies to do everything possible to punish those responsible for making these threats, to prevent them from occurring in the future, and to make sure these threats never become a reality,” said Bilirakis.
Bomb threats against JCCs across Florida have forced evacuations and increased security. Since January, 53 JCCs in 26 states received phoned-in bomb threats totaling 68 incidents.
