Bilirakis Visits Independently-Owned Gas Station in Dade City to Discuss Impact of High Prices on Local Residents
Dade City, Florida: Congressman Gus Bilirakis had the privilege of stopping by Vaughn's Country Store, an independently owned and operated gas station in Dade City. Owners Tracy and Bob Wood, along with Manager Jim Vesta, invited customers to discuss a range of topics with the local lawmaker, including: surges in gas prices, the need to increase domestic production of gas and diesel fuel, and concerns about depleting emergency oil reserves. These customers explained to the Congressman that the dramatic increases they've seen in gas prices in the past two years have hurt their nearby small farming businesses. When coupled with the high cost of housing, food, and other necessities, these local residents are really feeling a pinch in their pocketbooks and they pleaded for help from Washington.
"The impact of inflation caused by reckless government spending and pain at the pump caused by pursuit of a radical green agenda is not theoretical," said Congressman Gus Bilirakis. "These decisions are taking a serious toll on our neighbors and impacting their daily lives. We have to provide them the desperately needed relief they are seeking."
