Bilirakis Votes (for the 9th Time!) to Approve Keystone XL Pipeline
Washington, D.C. – Representative Gus Bilirakis, member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, today joined a bipartisan effort to pass H.R. 5682 in the House of Representatives, a bill to approve the Keystone XL pipeline.
"The Obama Administration has delayed the Keystone XL pipeline for over six years, withholding the prospect of more than 40,000 jobs and $2.1 billion in earnings. Now, more than ever, it is important that we create a long-term, all-of-the-above energy plan, which addresses energy costs that drain family budgets. Energy production has decreased on federal lands the last six years. Thanks to state and private energy development, we have seen an increase in domestic energy production. It is time for the federal government to do its part to help America achieve energy independence," said Bilirakis.
"Americans are hurting, and the Keystone XL pipeline would make every one of their hard-earned dollars go further," continued Bilirakis. "Cheaper energy prices mean lower bills at the gas pump and the grocery store. Reducing gas prices, reducing the costs to heat or cool your home, and reducing the costs of feeding your family are good things. The Keystone XL pipeline is a step towards doing that."
