Bilirakis Wins National Award for Communication and Service to Constituents

-Congressional Management Foundation Recognizes Rep. Bilirakis for Outstanding Achievement-

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 16, 2021 - The Congressional Management Foundation (CMF) announced that Rep. Gus Bilirakis is a winner of a Democracy Award, CMF’s honor recognizing non-legislative achievement and performance in congressional offices. Rep. Bilirakis was selected for outstanding achievement for the category of Innovation and Modernization. The Innovation and Modernization category recognizes offices employing unique or innovative methods in their constituent interactions, communications, or office operations.

As a Democracy Award winner, Rep. Bilirakis’ office is clearly one of the best in Congress,” said Bradford Fitch, President and CEO of the Congressional Management Foundation. “This designation demonstrates that Rep. Bilirakis has made a significant commitment to being the best public servant for his constituents in Florida. Rep. Bilirakis and his staff are to be congratulated for not only being a model for his colleagues in Congress, but for helping to restore trust and faith that our democratic institutions can work,” he said.

Eight House and Senate offices were honored as winners in four categories: Constituent Service; Innovation and Modernization; Transparency and Accountability; and "Life in Congress"-Workplace Environment.  The winners were selected by a selection committee primarily comprised of former Members of Congress and congressional staff. The winners will be honored at a ceremony to be held in Washington, D.C. in the fall.  CMF included the following reasons for selecting Rep. Bilirakis for an award:  “Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) has a very robust communication strategy that allows for targeted follow-up communications on issues constituents care about most.”

I am humbled to receive this prestigious honor,” said Congressman Gus Bilirakis.  “I believe that the best ideas come from the people I serve and it is important to establish effective lines of communication to ensure I have a good pulse on the issues that matter most to my constituents.  I am continuously working to improve and modernize processes to better meet my constituents’ needs and to provide targeted resources to those in need.”
