Bilirakis Writes Letter to President Trump on Ridge Road Extension

January 26, 2017

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Gus Bilirakis (FL-12) sent a letter to President Donald Trump urging the President to prioritize the completion of the Ridge Road extension project. The letter comes in response to the President’s recent Executive Order, “Expediting Environmental Reviews and Approvals for High Priority Infrastructure Projects.”

Please see below for an excerpt from the letter. Click here to view the full version.

“For the last eighteen years, this important project has been stuck in a quagmire of federal regulations and repetitive procedures in the Army Corps review process.

“I respectfully call on you and the Chairman of the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) to designate the Ridge Road infrastructure project as a “high priority” under Section 2 of your Executive Order due to its general welfare importance.

“After nearly twenty years of waiting, the people of Pasco County deserve an effective evacuation route during a natural disaster, and we are so grateful for your leadership on this.”

Bilirakis has long been a proponent of extending Ridge Road, and has worked closely with local and federal authorities to help advance this critical public safety project.
