Measures to Officially End Pandemic and Healthcare Vaccine Mandate Pass House

February 1, 2023

Washington, D.C. – This week, two measures aimed to stop the Biden Administration’s continued overreach into the lives of Americans passed the House.  Both bills were co-authored by Representative Gus Bilirakis and other Republican lawmakers as part of the Conference’s Commitment to America to build a future that is free and a government that is accountable.    The Healthcare Workers Act, introduced by Representatives Gus Bilirakis, Jeff Duncan and other Republican lawmakers would repeal the Biden Administration’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate on federal healthcare workers.  Additionally, representatives including Brett Guthrie and Gus Bilirakis, introduced and passed their bill to officially end COVID-19 emergency and subsequently President Biden’s emergency powers.

Even though he admits the pandemic is over, President Biden continues to use COVID-19 to justify government overreach, vaccine and mask mandates, and going around Congress to enact his agenda. This week we took multiple steps to end his ability to do so,” said Congressman Bilirakis.  “All Americans should have the freedom to make their own individual healthcare decisions without fear of losing their jobs.  Our healthcare workers bill is a step toward recognizing that basic right.  Our dedicated medical professionals certainly never should have been burdened with this authoritarian mandate.  It has been an attack on the personal freedoms of our frontline workers and has unnecessarily exacerbated the healthcare workforce shortage. Now that the pandemic is OVER, it is past time for federal funding of these authoritarian mandates to END.”
