Rep. Bilirakis Holds Hearing Assessing State of Emergency Preparedness

June 6, 2012

"At the start of another hurricane season and with the knowledge that the threat of terrorism against the United States has not decreased, it is important that we assess our nation's state of preparedness," Bilirakis said. "This hearing examined our current level of preparedness and provided the opportunity to consider steps that must be taken to address any areas of concern."

The National Preparedness Report (NPR) focuses on five mission areas: Prevention, Protection, Mitigation, Response, and Recovery. The NPR identifies areas where the Nation has made significant progress, acknowledges remaining opportunities for improvement, and reinforces the important principles of national preparedness. The NPR focuses on threats and hazards that pose the greatest risk to U.S. security and resilience. Read it here.
