Spend a 'Day On' for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
By GUS BILIRAKIS
MLK Day - Recognizing the power of service to achieve common goals, Dr. King worked to eliminate societal barriers and changed our country forever.
On January 21, 2008, millions of Americans across the country will come together to honor Dr. King's legacy by taking part in a wide array of service projects in their communities. These area leaders are helping to build a sense of community that honors and reflects the life and teachings of Dr. King.
This dedication to civic engagement reinforces American values and strengthens our community. That is why I encourage everyone to spend next Monday as a ‘Day ON' and not a ‘Day off' to honor Dr. King's legacy through service.
