Homeowners across the country are currently facing astronomical flood insurance rate increases as a result of reforms made to address the solvency and affordability of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), which protects homeowners from flood losses. With premiums expected to double or even increase ten-fold for some homeowners in the Tampa Bay area, I have been working tirelessly to find a legislative solution that makes flood insurance affordable for homeowners, while also making sure the flood insurance program remains sustainable.
"The U.S. Embassy to the Holy See is an important diplomatic mission between the United States and the Vatican, which represents more than 1 billion Catholics worldwide," said Bilirakis. "While diplomatic security is of the utmost importance, I urge the State Department to examine every effort to keep the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See in its own, distinct property."

"I am very concerned about the details of the agreement," said Bilirakis. "Iran's hostile and aggressive regime affects not only the stability of the Middle East, but also the entire world. Iran's track record suggests that it will continue to pursue a nuclear weapon. Wishful thinking is not a good base for sound foreign policy, and we have no reason to trust Iran now, especially considering its ability to put those weapons in the hands of terrorists, like Hezbollah, Al Qaeda and Hamas."
"The 27 leases approved by this legislation will allow the VA to better serve our nation's heroes throughout the country," said Bilirakis. "In Pasco County, we are especially grateful, as the consolidation of our medical clinics into one property will ease veterans' access to healthcare and create a one-stop shop to better address their needs. I look forward to working with my colleagues in both the House and the Senate to see this legislation become law as quickly as possible."

"The President repeatedly promised the American people that if they liked their health care plans, they would be able to keep them under Obamacare," said Bilirakis. "As millions of hardworking Americans receive notices that their health care plans have been cancelled due to the new health care law, this legislation will give them the peace of mind they deserve."
In Florida alone, 300,000 individuals have received notices that their health plans have been cancelled due to Obamacare.
"While the President repeatedly promised the American people they would be able to keep their current health care plans under Obamacare, millions of people across the country are unfortunately realizing this is not the case," said Bilirakis. "Now, my constituents are paying the price for the Administration's inability to uphold its promises. The Keep Your Health Plan Act will provide the peace of mind they deserve by providing these hardworking Americans the option to keep their current coverage if they so choose."
"Experts have repeatedly noted that the threat of a WMD attack is real," said Bilirakis. "We must take steps now to ensure the necessary plans, medication and equipment are available to protect the public, especially emergency response providers, in the event of an attack. The legislation passed by the Committee today recognizes the continued importance of ensuring medical preparedness activities remain allowable grant uses. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the House to get this bill signed into law."
