On this 10th Anniversary of the War in Iraq, we remember our brave servicemen and women. To the 4,500 troops who died there; to the more than 30,000 wounded Americans who have come home ? your selfless sacrifices will never be forgotten.

Today, we have a new generation of veterans, and we must continue to make them a top priority when they return home, adapting our own processes to meet their needs. It is unacceptable for our nation?s heroes to have to wait years to receive benefits earned in service to this country.

Washington, DC (March 15, 2013) ? At a House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health hearing this morning, Congressman Gus M. Bilirakis (R-FL) questioned the panel regarding the increase in healthcare premiums as a result of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

"In order to compete in today's technologically-evolving economy, Americans must be armed with the skills needed for careers in industries which are in demand," said Congressman Bilirakis. "Today's broken federal workforce development system costs us valuable taxpayer dollars and hinders the very people it was intended to serve. In passing the SKILLS Act, we are taking meaningful steps toward getting America back to work and ensuring our taxpayer dollars are spent effectively and efficiently."

"With 12 million Americans still looking for work, we must focus on job creation," said Congressman Bilirakis. "Today's testimony demonstrated the Affordable Care Act will result in job loss, fewer hours for employees, reduction in employee compensation and increased premiums. We should be incentivizing businesses to grow and create jobs that provide the opportunity for advancement and increased wages. Americans deserve better, and the ACA is not fulfilling its promise of increased quality and lower healthcare costs."

Affairs Committee, as Florida?s 2012 VFW Legislator of the Year. At the ceremony held in Orlando, Bilirakis was praised for his work on behalf of veterans, including his successful passage of H.R. 4057, the Improving Transparency of Education Opportunities for Veterans Act.

(February 14, 2013) - Thursday, Members of Congress, foreign diplomats and the public gathered on Capitol Hill to celebrate the launch of the bi-partisan Congressional Hellenic-Israel Alliance (CHIA). This new Congressional initiative, established by Congressman Gus M. Bilirakis (R-FL) with the help of Congressman Ted Deutch (D-FL), will highlight the relationships forming between Cyprus, Greece and Israel.
