On Sunday, Gus joined the Frank Wuco show on 970 WFLA to discuss pertinent national security and emergency preparedness issues. Gus addressed his Student Visa Security Improvement Act, which would ensure that foreign students are abiding by the terms of their visas.
The free workshop will be conducted in cooperation with the Concord Coalition, a national, non-partisan grassroots organization that has developed a program to foster understanding of the federal budget process. Attendees get to select which policies they would like to implement to reduce our deficits and improve our long-term fiscal outlook and economic future.
"This event will give local taxpayers an inside look at the budget and let them use their spending priorities to create a model federal budget," Bilirakis said.
"While Hurricane Irene isn't a major threat to the Florida coast, I still am encouraging all residents along the potential path of the storm to take the proper steps to protect yourself and your belongings," Bilirakis said. "Everyone should develop family disaster plans and create supply kits. As I like to say, we must hope for the best but prepare for the worst."

Last week, Gus visited with 970 WFLA about the ongoing debt negotiations and his commitment to finding a responsible solution to the nation's fiscal problems that controls federal spending and moves America toward a balanced budget without raising taxes.

"Whether it is providing assistance with VA claims or working with federal agencies to solve complex issues, my office is here to help those who selflessly defend and protect our nation."
