Washington, D.C. – Representative Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) introduced H.R. 192, the Stop Handouts to Unauthorized Taxpayers (SHUT) Act, which would require any individual who receives the refundable portion of the child tax credit to demonstrate their legal employment in the United States by providing a Social Security Number or proof of lawful residence on their tax return.

Washington, D.C. – Representative Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), today voted with a bipartisan group of his colleagues to pass H.R. 30, the Save American Workers Act. This legislation would restore the definition of being a full-time employee to one who works a 40-hour work week, as opposed to a 30-hour work week that was implemented under the Affordable Care Act.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Gus M. Bilirakis (R-FL), Vice Chairman of the Veterans Affairs Committee today voted to pass H.R. 22, the Hire More Heroes Act, of which he was an original cosponsor. This bill will encourage the hiring of Veterans, by providing employers with relief from the Employer Mandate in the President's health care law, and will reduce Veteran unemployment and spur economic growth.

Roy Gifford thought he would be this way for the rest of his life: weighed down by schizoaffective disorder, working his way down a long list of medications, all hope extinguished.

He grew up in foster care and institutions, only to graduate as an adult to assisted living facilities, jail and the streets. But, nearing 40, Gifford finally got help in Pasco County: counseling, medication compliance and an understanding of how to grow.
