WASHINGTON, DC (October 26, 2010) – For his dedication to helping senior citizens, Congressman Gus Bilirakis has been named a Guardian of Seniors' Rights by the 60 Plus Association.
WASHINGTON, DC (October 18, 2010) – Last week, Gus had the pleasure of meeting with Debbie Struk, who won this year's Mrs. Countryside award from the Countryside Rotary for her community involvement.
"It is people like Mrs. Struk who make this such a great country," Gus said. "Her big heart and selfless attitude have made Countryside a better place and we can all learn a lot about the importance of community service and outreach from Mrs. Struk."
WASHINGTON, DC (October 15, 2010) – One of Gus' biggest oppositions to Obamacare has been that it will raise health care costs, especially for seniors. Now, here's more proof that, unfortunately, that will be the case.
WASHINGTON, DC (October 15, 2010) – News that the Treasury Department has paid $437 million to private contractors to help run TARP is another reason that we need to end TARP immediately.
Need more proof that this administration is out of touch with reality? More than half of those payments - $240 million – went to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. That's right, two of the most poorly-run companies, which still rely heavily on taxpayer support, have been running TARP.
WASHINGTON, DC (October 7, 2010) – Rep. Gus Bilirakis (FL-09) was recognized today with an "A in English" award by U.S. English, Inc. for his dedication to preserving the unifying role of the English language in the U.S.
Members received "A in English" honors based on their votes for several key issues, such as the English Language Unity Act, which declares English as the official language of the U.S. and establishes a uniform English language rule for naturalization.
WASHINGTON, DC (October 5, 2010) – In just over six months, Obamacare has failed to deliver on several promises. Just yesterday, a report from the Congressional Research Service found that the Department of Health and Human Services has missed seven deadlines mandated by the new law. That's one-third of the 22 deadlines, and it's only the beginning.
WASHINGTON, DC (September 28, 2010) – Multiple memos from the Obama administration have shed light on plans for addressing illegal immigration. Most of these plans involve some kind of amnesty program or incentive for immigrants to be in this country illegally.
Americans clearly understand this, and they want their states to take action to secure our borders and discourage illegal immigration.
WASHINGTON, DC (September 28, 2010) – Around 500 churches, monasteries, cemeteries and other religious sites in the Republic of Cyprus have been desecrated, pillaged, looted and destroyed since Turkey invaded the northern region on July 20th 1974.
"Congress has shown it is making international religious freedom a priority," said Bilirakis, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the International Religious Freedom Caucus.
