Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), member of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, has introduced legislation that would examine if zero co-payments for mail-order drugs would boost cost savings for the Department of Defense's TRICARE pharmacy program by increasing participation in the mail-order option.

WASHINGTON -On Thursday, U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) supported the passage of H.R. 1585, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2008. This bipartisan legislation will authorize defense-related funding for the fiscal year 2008; including key provisions specifically advocated by Bilirakis critical to the health and welfare of active duty and retired members of the United States military.

WASHINGTON (16 May) - U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) today joined thousands of potential bone marrow donors by registering with the National Marrow Donor Program. In the hopes that one day his own bone marrow will help save a life, Congressman Bilirakis participated in the Washington, DC leg of the DRIVING FOR DONORS tour across the country.
Organized by a young Palm Harbor resident, Pat Pedraja, 12, who was diagnosed with Leukemia in March 2006, DRIVING FOR DONORS is seeking to add 5,000 new names to the National Marrow Registry Program by the end of this year.

WASHINGTON (15 May) - U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) today questioned a panel of Florida state and federal emergency management officials on national hurricane readiness during their testimony before the House Homeland Security Committee.
Just two weeks before the official start of the new hurricane season, FEMA director R. David Paulison and Florida Emergency Management Director William "Craig" Fugate, were among the panelists discussing FEMA's preparations and the level of national hurricane readiness.
