WASHINGTON, DC (September 23, 2010) – The National Federation of Independent Business, the nation's leading small business association, today named Rep. Gus Bilirakis (FL-9) a Guardian of Small Business for his outstanding voting record on behalf of America's small business owners.
The NFIB tallies key small business votes in the House of Representatives taken during the 2009 and 2010 sessions and presents the Guardian awards to representatives who voted favorably on those issues.
"Our wounded warriors deserve the best care and support we can give them," said Rep. Tim Walz, who is a 24 year veteran of the Army National Guard.

Bilirakis introduced legislation in May that would improve the background checks conducted on student visa applicants from high risk areas and enhance America's ability to ensure, once in the country, foreign students are abiding by the terms of their visas.
We are reminded from the aftermath of September 11th that America is a nation of resilient, compassionate and determined people.
The terrorists who struck our country failed in their attempt to scare us from our way of life. They failed in their bid to deter us from being Americans and the freedoms we cherish.
WHEN: Friday, September 10, 2010, 10 a.m.
Rep. Bilirakis and members of his staff will have nomination packets and will answer questions on other requirements and how the nomination process works.
