WASHINGTON, DC (September 22, 2010) – Rep. Tim Walz (MN-01), Rep. Gus Bilirakis (FL-09), Rep. Jeff Miller (FL-01) and Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (NJ-08) have introduced bipartisan legislation to improve rehabilitation services for veterans suffering from traumatic brain injury (TBI).

"Our wounded warriors deserve the best care and support we can give them," said Rep. Tim Walz, who is a 24 year veteran of the Army National Guard.

WASHINGTON, DC (September 15, 2010) – Congressman Gus Bilirakis (FL-09) questioned panelists about the need to strengthen the student visa screening process and the role of the Internet in homegrown terrorism during a Homeland Security Committee hearing on Tuesday.

Bilirakis introduced legislation in May that would improve the background checks conducted on student visa applicants from high risk areas and enhance America's ability to ensure, once in the country, foreign students are abiding by the terms of their visas.

We are reminded from the aftermath of September 11th that America is a nation of resilient, compassionate and determined people.

The terrorists who struck our country failed in their attempt to scare us from our way of life. They failed in their bid to deter us from being Americans and the freedoms we cherish.

Congressman Gus Bilirakis (FL-09) will deliver remarks at the event, honoring those who sacrificed their lives and thanking those heroes who continue to keep us safe.

TARPON SPRINGS, FL (August 26, 2010) – Students interested in attending a service academy and committing to serving the nation's military will have the opportunity to meet with Congressman Gus Bilirakis (FL-09) and representatives from the nation's five service academies about the application and nomination process this Saturday (August 28).

Rep. Bilirakis and members of his staff will have nomination packets and will answer questions on other requirements and how the nomination process works.

"Why have New York City officials undermined our First Amendment rights by showing preference for one religion over another? St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, the only house of worship crushed by the collapse of the World Trade Center on 9/11, has yet to be rebuilt. The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese has been ready, willing, and able to re-erect its beloved church but has been met with persistent roadblocks by New York City officials who have thus far prevented reconstruction of the church.
